On that I'll leave you to your deductions.

My name is Dr. Stephen Strange. I'm an ex-neurosurgeon who briefly worked with the research branch of a company responsible for manufacturing the implants, and I'd like to give you an opportunity to fully understand what it is you're signing up for.

Typically people are eager to know the risks before major surgery. If you don't care what they are I can only assume you're more attached to your hoped for result than you are to your life, which makes imploring you a waste of both of our time.

Good luck. If you change your mind and would like more information before you commit yourself to it, you have my name.

[ It's something. There's no point in fighting for her life with words she doesn't want to hear, he's done more than enough of that with others lately. She's given him confirmation enough to be getting on with. ]

I know, it's alright. I wouldn't be thrilled with the intrusion either.

Regenerative healing?
[ deja vu. He's had a not dissimilar conversation with somebody else who claimed they were guaranteed to get out of neurosurgery without a scratch. ] If it's a factory reset, that won't help you much when it comes to the brain. The tissue can regrow perfectly but you can't replicate neural pathways without reforming them. Your body could forget any one of its functions, or you could lose memory. And I don't have any reason to believe it's going to yield the results I'm told you hope for.

I'm a doctor. If we all withheld our help from everyone but friends and acquaintances, there would be a lot more dead people.

I've been here for over seven months. If they've tampered with our implants it isn't in any way that's had a significant negative impact on our lives. That isn't knowledge worth risking your quality of life for.

Others are doing it regardless of whether you go ahead or not. I know about one, I have an idea of another.

No. I don't practice in an official capacity anymore, but I'm available for the Displaced when they need.

You and half the rest of us. Just give someone you trust a heads up with a location when they're about to put you under in case they need it for a medi-unit.

[ Hm. That sounds like something that could be familiar. ]

Good to know. Come back to me about it if you're still around to donate when the surgery's over. We can catch up on the results.
